This project had me discuss a social issue I was passionate about and then choose three words related to either the issue or my perspective on it. I was then challenged to display each word in a different way—one in an analog format, one in a 3D format, and one in a digital format.
I started by determining my topic. Once my topic had been chosen, I decided on three words to represent it. Then I began the visual representations. I started with the analog format, then the 3-dimensional format, and finally the digital format. Lastly, I wrote 4 paragraphs, one about my topic in general and one describing each of my three words. I then put all of that on a poster, which was printed and displayed in my school building.
I started by doing some general online research on societal problems facing my generation, and I decided to focus on the beauty standard imposed on young women in our society. I then chose three words to work with. I chose three words that described my view of the issue: Body, Mind, and Soul. I then made each form, starting with the analog one, by writing "Body" on my body with black eyeliner. I then moved to my 3D form, where I carved "Mind" into the page of a book. Then I finished the digital form by writing "Soul" in a graffiti style in Procreate.
