This was a project in which I was tasked with (hypothetically) redesigning the branding and creating various assets for a local accommodations business.
I started by redesigning the logo, then determined the new colour palette and brand fonts. Then I worked on designing a variety of collateral using the new branding I created.
I started with ideating for the logo. I took inspiration from the name, Madrona Beach Resort, which the original logo took quite literally, so I decided to lean more abstract in my design approach. My final logo design takes inspiration from the "Madrona" aspect of the name, which is actually another name for an arbutus tree. The logo I designed draws inspiration from the tree's curling bark. I then determined the brand colours by drawing inspiration from the ocean water, the bark of the madrona tree, the beach sand, and the sky. Then I worked on creating a variety of assets that would make sense for a business like this. I created a pattern by repeating the stems of the "M" in the logo. I used Adobe Photoshop mockups to create my assets.
